The Pumpkin fruit fly Dacus frontalis (Becker) (Diptera: Tephritidae): A review of its bio-ecology and control strategy

Résumé

La mouche de la citrouille Dacus frontalis (Becker) est déjà classée comme l'un des ravageurs des cucurbitacées les plus dommageables économiquement des en Afrique du Nord, en Afrique du Sud et au Moyen-Orient. L'identification exacte de cette mouche des fruits peut être délicate en raison des similitudes au niveau des espèces. Ainsi, la biologie moléculaire peut facilement classer et contrôler les ravageurs des mouches des fruits. Les hôtes préférés de D.frontalis sont la courge, la pastèque, le melon sucré, le concombre et la courgette. Les fruits infestés présentent généralement des trous de ponte ou de sortie et les dommages directs sont causés par le stade larvaire, ce qui diminue la qualité et la quantité des fruits et provoque des pertes de rendement élevées. La stratégie de contrôle de ce ravageur varie de la lutte biologique aux pesticides chimiques en plus des pièges à appâts.
