Teucrium polium L.: Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Properties with an Emphasis on Oxidative Stress and Gastric Ulcer induced by ethanol in albinos rats

Résumé

Les espèces de Teucrium ont été utilisées en médecine traditionnelle pour le traitement de différentes maladies. Dans la présente étude, nous avons cherché à étudier l'effet gastroprotecteur de l'extrait méthanolique de Teucrium polium L (TPME) contre le stress oxydatif induit par l'éthanol chez le rat. Des rats wistar mâles adultes ont été utilisés et divisés en cinq groupes de huit chacun : témoin, EtOH/HCl (80 % v/v, 4 g/kg de poids corporel), EtOH 80 % + deux doses de TPME (100 et 200 mg/kg de poids corporel) et EtOH/HCl + Famotidine (10 mg/kg, p.o.). Les animaux ont été prétraités par voie orale (p.o.) avec du TPME puis intoxiqués avec une seule administration orale d'EtOH/HCl (4 g/kg de poids corporel). Les paramètres ulcérogènes, les indices de stress oxydatif et l'examen histopathologique de l'estomac ont été évalués. Les composés bioactifs du TPME ont été identifiés à l'aide de la chromatographie liquide haute performance (HPLC). Les résultats obtenus ont indiqué que le prétraitement au TPME a significativement réduit la formation d'ulcère aux deux doses administrées. De même, les prétraitements ont amélioré le système antioxydant, diminué le débit acide, la peroxydation lipidique et amélioré l'architecture de la muqueuse gastrique chez les rats ulcérés. Les résultats de la HPLC ont identifié la présence de trois dérivés d'acides phénoliques (acides p-coumarique, férulique et syringique) et de trois flavonoïdes (myricétine, lutéoline 7-O-glucoside et hyperoside). Cette étude nous a permis de conclure que le TPME a une forte activité antioxydante et gastroprotectrice en raison de sa richesse en composés phénoliques.
