The study aims to evaluate the milk production of local goats and their variation factors. The database includes the control of 34 goats from the experimental goat herd at the El GORDHAB station. The results show that in general, the daily milk production in the local goat population is 620g/d, it varies widely between 250 and 1200g/d. The results show the importance of the variation in daily milk
according to the litter size at birth and the age at kidding. Also natural factors such as the month of kidding can vary considerably the final result of the daily milk through the action on the pastoral resources available to the goat. The results obtained provide a valuable information relating to the phenotypic and genetic characteristics of the goat population and its variability. Such knowledge
will enable to better management and improved performance of the local goat population adapted to arid conditions and exploited in an area threatened by desertification.
